I've been so slacking off people..... I need help with finding these songs....decided it's ok to break away from the "rock" genre....here's a song that's sure to please!!! This 1992 hit single "Jump Around", which reached #3 in the United States is STILL a crowd pleaser!! I had the opportunity to see an awesome cover band named Rat Ranch in at Rock the Dock in Kemah last Thursday that made the crowd go nuts with this Classic 90's song! It was killer! Real Estate Song of The Week: Way Back Home by Zakk Wylde

I'm getting lazy guys.... urg....this blogging thing can quickly be tossed aside.  After work and the baby, there isn't much time left over.  I find myself finally trying to get on the computer around 10 or 10:30 each night.  The hubby  and I have to fight with the kids over the computers.  They don't go to sleep until about 10pm so, after that is when we start winding down and get our greedy little internet starved hands on any computer!

Well, here it goes.....the Real Estate Song of The Week..... you know, the song has to have the word "house" or "home" in the title.  This is waaay harder than it seems.  I need suggestions!!!! Anyway, I picked Zakk Wylde's "Way Back Home".... I really dig his voice.  Check it out!

It's time for my Real Estate Song of the Week!!! This week it's going to be Major Tom (Coming Home). This song was originally done by Peter Schilling. Major Tom, though already existed as a fictional astronaut created by the legendary David Bowie! He brought this song to life with "Space Oddity", "Ashes to Ashes" and "Hallo Spaceboy"

There were others that continued to give this fictional character life throughout the years .... pretty neato for a person that doesn't exist! I wish I had people singing about me! hahaaa! Awesome song!!! Until next time my pretties!

Five Finger Death Punch -- Far From Home

This band's debut album, The Way of The Fist, charted in the Billboard 200. On its fist week of release it reached the #1 position in the New Artist/Heetseekers Category. Their debut single "The Bleeding" went top ten, received radio air play for 8 months AND its video was voted into Headbanger's Ball top 5 metal videos of the year! Wowsers!

I had the pleasure of seeing them live at the Mayhem Festival in 2008 in Houston!!! Check out this song "Far From Home" from their latest album. Stay tuned for next week's Real Estate Song of the week!!

Led Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy

Well, well, well. It's Sunday AGAIN! This week flew! Well, you know what that means. That's right, time for my Real Estate Song of the Week. I am posting songs that have the words "house" or "home" in the title.

This week, I am picking Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy". Interesting thing about this song is that it didn't appear on it's namesake album "Houses of the Holy" even though it was written at the same time other songs on this album were written. Houses of the Holy later appeared on the their "Physical Graffiti" 1975. This album happened to also be controversial because they depicted images of nude children climbing the Giant's Causeway located in Northern Ireland. Although it didn't show the children from the front, this album was considered controversial and banned in Spain and the "Bible Belt."

Pink Floyd - Vera & Bring the Boys Back Home

Acck! This week has been soooo busy! Don't worry, I didn't forget about my NEW weekly ritual! This week's is a Pink Floyd song.  Who DOESN'T love Pink Floyd??

 Has anyone checked out the laser light show when it's been in town? I loved that they had a bubble machine blowing bubbles into the Verizon Wireless auditorium.  The lasers were bouncing off of them creating some uber grooviness through our 3D glasses! It was a GREAT show! Everyone was quitely sitting in their seats watching the show when lo and behold, there is a weird figure/shadow up ahead....what was it?? It was a hard core Pink Floyd fan from yesteryear proudly standing up and screaming "Pink Floyd ROCKS!!" He was drunk, so drunk.  He could barely stand up! It WAS amusing for about 5 minutes, then the crowd consipired to shut him up.  He finally sat down but still insisted on letting everyone know how much he cared for Pink Floyd......good show! Ah....good times......stay tuned for next week!

House of the Rising Sun.... Did it Really Exist? What was it really?

Well, I'm a little late this week with my song of the week posting.... Anyway, I thought I'd pick "House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals... It's tough to find good songs with the words "house" or "home" in them.  Anyhooo..I've always thought this song was awesome even though it did come out in 1964! Wowsers!

There's alot of speculation as to the origins of this song.  It seems it may have been a folk ballad that has been passed down. The oldest known existing recording is by versatile Appalachian artists Clarence "Tom" Ashley and Gwen Foster in 1933. Ashley said he heard it from his grandfather! Craaaazy! 


Nobody knows exactly if the song is referring to a brother, a prison or some kind of slavery house.  Depending on who you talk to there is also the question of whether it's a woman or man singing it.  It can apparently be sung from two perspectives...

One theory speculated the song is about a daughter who killed her father, an alcoholic gambler who had beaten his wife. Therefore, the House of the Rising Sun may be a jail-house, from which one would be the first person to see the sun rise (an idea supported by the lyric mentioning "a ball and chain," though that phrase has been used as slang to describe marital relationships for at least as long as the song has been in print). Because the song was often sung by women, another theory is that the House of the Rising Sun was where prostitutes were detained while they were treated for syphilis. Since cures with mercury were ineffective, going back was very likely. By the way, there is an actual bed and breakfast in New Orleans that is called: House of the Rising Sun Bed and Breakfast 335 Pelican Avenue New Orleans, Louisiana 70114 United States Niiiiice!

Well, it doesn't really matter who sang it first, whether it's a man or woman singing it or whether they were referring to a jail or brothel. What we do know is that the Animals ROCKED it! Enjoy!!!

Song of The Week Containing the Words "House" or "Home"

I had started to do a "song of the day" post on my Facebook months ago.  I was posting a song that had the words "home" or "house" for everyone to enjoy and rock out to.  I started to run out quickly though! There are quite a few songs out there.  I welcome any suggestions anyone might have for future postings.  I will try to get one out every Sunday to start out the week Rockin'!

There aren't really special requirements except that it's a rock/metal related song....well, maybe I'll allow others on a case by case basis! They should be GOOD songs! Heck, I'll even post a song that anyone has written and plays themselves too!!! Maybe even videos of you doing a cover song! How about that?! But remember, they DO have to contain either the words, "house" or "home"!! Let's do this!!
